I am so excited to finally share this post all about Ko’Olina, Oahu in Hawaii. We visited in early May with my sister, Charity, and brother-in-law, Chris. They are so fortunate to have a Disney Vacation Club and generously offered up a fantastic hotel room for us for a week. We stayed at Disney Alauni in Ko’Olina on the southwestern side of the island. It was absolutely amazing.

Disney Aulani is an amazing property. It boasts 351 hotel rooms, including 16 suites; 481 Disney Vacation Club Units, including 19 Grand Villas. There are 2 restaurants on site and several quick-service dining venues. The Spa is absolutely incredible as well as the fitness center. There are also numerous pools, waterslides, and even a lazy river. The resort also boasts a fantastic kids club, however, we did not utilize this amenity--no kids with us on this trip. Even though Disney is essentially a family resort, we enjoyed it as adults. There were plenty of kids, but we weren’t bothered by any of them the entire time.

When you first enter the impressive lobby you are greeted by a mural that surrounds the entire area, opening to a balcony that overlooks the pools to the ocean.
The lobby mural is divided into masculine and feminine sections, outlining the works of men and women traditional Hawaiian life. There are paintings that hand beneath the bands that run along the walls of the lobby that represent sea, land, and sky.
Three carved “
ki‘i ,” or images, depicting the three brothers of the demi-god and folk hero Maui grace the resort’s entryway (the word “ki‘i ” appears as “tiki” elsewhere in Polynesia).

When you first arrive at the resort, you are gifted with bead for the guys and a beautiful lai for the women.

Disney Aulani offers many different areas for relaxation including a lazy river, several pools, and gorgeous Ko’Olina beach. We spent most of our time in the exact spot you see below. We were in close proximity to the pool and the beach was just a few steps away.

Staying closer to the pools and beach, we enjoyed excellent poolside and beachside service. I only had a pineapple filled cocktail once, but all of the cocktails were amazing and were garnished with beautiful orchids. I wore many in my hair this week. I did, however, enjoy a fresh tuna poke bowl at least three times. They were fantastic and so, so fresh.

One of the most beautiful areas of the resort were the points. We took a short walk along the beach to the rocks and enjoyed the fantastic views. This was one of my favorite parts.

This was our first trip to Hawaii and it was absolutely amazing. I’ve got several more post to share with you about different parts of the island. So, have you ever been to Hawaii? What’s your favorite island? I would love to know because we will definitely be going back (hopefully soon).
I was fortunate enough to visit Oahu, the Big Island, Maui, and Kauai. All are so different it would be hard to pick a favorite. I recommended go to all!
I would love to visit them all. We were thinking of the Hawaiian cruise so that we can see many of the islands. I’ve also heard that Maui is amazing.
