On our trip to Hawaii we had the pleasure of attending the KaWa’a Luau at the Disney Aulani Resort. We knew that we wanted to attend a Luau while in Hawaii and we ended up choosing this one for two different reasons. First, it had great reviews and second, it was at our resort. This worked perfectly for us after a day of lying on the beach enjoying cocktails.
When we arrived for the Luau we were greeted with leis and a welcome cocktail. There were also numerous activities for us to enjoy before the Luau started, including ukulele lessons and wrist lei making.
The KaWa’a Luau’s story was hosted by Noa, who told us the story of Aulani’s location in ‘Ewa. How the story was told was and the singing and dancing were fantastic.
The stage set-up is also a great part of the show. A large stage is located in the front of the show, with a runway-type stage that extends out into the audience. This really made it feel like the show extended into the crowd.
The traditional hula was absolutely beautiful and the performers were beyond fantastic (it’s amazing how they move their hips so fast). The songs that they sang told the story throughout the night. The Ka Wa’a Luau show concluded with the traditional fire dance, which was definitely the highlight.
We definitely enjoyed the Disney KaWa’a Luau and would definitely attend it again. The entire show was fantastic as well as the food and drinks that they served.
Have you ever attended a Luau? Which one did you attend? Did you love it?
