Every spring when all of the new makeup products come out I start to get the urge. The urge to refresh my spring makeup. It seems that I usually tend to wear a little less makeup in the spring and summer (usually due to the heat). But, I absolutely love to add a few new eyeshadow colors, try out a new bronzer or highlighter, add a few new things to my skincare regime, try out a new foundation product, and find a new color for my lips (I’ve got a separate post coming for you all about spring/summer lips). Sometimes I find a new item and sometimes I go back to my tried and true favorites. Here are a few new items and old favorites that everyone needs for spring.
All about eyes…
I’ve purchased a few new eyeshadow palettes that are so beautiful and are perfect for spring and summer. (If you love palettes like I do, I’ve got a few other options for your here.)
Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette— This palette is so beautiful. This palette is all neutrals, perfect for all skin colors. I love the matte and shimmer colors, especially Distilled and Burn. Most of the colors are really versatile and can be used with other palettes that I have.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sultry Eye Shadow Palette— This is probably my favorite new palette. What I really like about all ABH palettes is how concentrated the colors are. It takes very little for a full application. All of the colors are great for a smoky eye, with the colors ranging from a golden matte to a bronzy metallic. In this palette, I’m loving the color Slate and Twig. Both are gorgeous neutrals. I’m also really loving the color Pearl as a highlighter.
**Drug Store Find— Nyx Micro Brow Pencil— This brow pencil works just as well as its more expensive counterparts. I use the color Taupe and it matches great with my blonde hair. The point is really fine for a nice application.
Urban Decay Brow Blade— I’m loving this brow blade. On one end is a brow pencil with a relatively fine tip. It’s a great pencil but did not last long at all. What I’m loving most is the other end, which is an ink stain with a finely tipped pen. It’s great for individual lash strokes.
A few months ago I removed my eyelash extensions and am now using primarily Lashify Lashes and Benefit Roller Lash Mascara when I wear mascara. I’ve also had my lashes tinted a few times and I love that because they are white blonde. I’ve also started using Latisse. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and will definitely share my results soon.
**Drug Store Find— L’oréal Infallible Water-Proof Concealer— I would probably compare this concealer to Tarte’s Shape Tape, but it’s not quite as thick. I actually like that and I think this concealer will definitely be a keeper. It has a full-coverage matte finish and comes in 25 shades. It will also double as a contour/highlighter.
**Drug Store Find— L’oréal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation— I’m also really loving this foundation. It’s matte with a light medium coverage. Perfect for workdays or the weekend. I probably would opt for more coverage going out, but it’s perfect for a casual day. This foundation also has a bit of a glow when worn without setting powder. It also has an SPF of 15.
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination— I love that this CC cream has an illuminator built in. The coverage is a little thick, but buffs in nicely with a beauty blender or foundation brush. It has an SPF of 50 and an anti-aging hydrating serum built in.
Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Pressed Powder— I just started using this invisible pressed powder. This powder is great for a touch-up throughout the day without becoming cakey. It also helps to minimize pores and even skin tone without chalky residue.
Lorac Tantalizer Bronzing Powder–This is still my all-time favorite bronzer. I’ve tried others but this finely milled formula is really hard to beat. The color (Pool Party) is perfect for my fair skin.
Skin care essentials…
Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser— This cleanser is great. It’s rich, thick, and super moisturizing. I usually love all of her products, but this cleanser is one of my top favorites.
Tula Purifying Face Cleanser— I’m really loving this cleanser. My skin feels so clean whenever I use it. It’s more of a foaming cleanser than a cream cleanser (which I usually prefer) but it’s really nice. It’s gentle but works really well. It will even remove eye makeup without irritation.
**Drug Store Find— Neutrogena Deep Cleaning Purifying Mask— So I already used the Purifying Mask, but I also have been using the Hydrating Mask and the Brightening Mask. All are really nice. Some sheet masks are so thin that they are hard to put on, but these have a great weight and stay put.
**Drug Store Find— Neutrogena Hydra Boost Overnight Mask Pod— I am loving these pods. They are actually a pretty good size and last for at least 2 nights. It’s a great overnight mask.
**Drug Store Find—
St. Tropez Gradual Tan Tinted Moisturizer— This self-tanner is awesome. It has a light bronzer and can be applied daily for a light, gradual tan. This mitt is essential for a flawless application. All of their products are my favorites.
A few other items that I’ve really been loving lately are these SIO Pads for the face and the décoletté. They work great, but sadly they don’t provide long term results. They do work great for when you are going out and will be showing the girls.
