A few weeks ago we visited one of our favorite wineries in Oregon and enjoyed a specially made dinner and tasting. Soter Vineyards has a Provisions Tasting Experience that is available by reservation that includes a multi-course tasting with wine pairing.
The menu was absolutely amazing. They even took into consideration and made alterations based on my crazy allergies. One of the things that makes this tasting so amazing is that all the produce, bread, and most of the meats are directly from the property.
Antipasto was the first course, paired with a glass of Chardonnay. We enjoyed Deviled Eggs, Charcuterie Meats, Spiced Nuts, Poached Pears, and Fresh Mustard Greens with a vinaigrette.
Our next course of Oysters with Meyer Lemon Mignonette was paired with Sparkling Rosé. The oyster was perfectly paired with the acid in the lemon and the Rosé.
Our next course grouping was probably most of our group’s favorites. This grouping was when we started our Pinot Noir tasting. We feasted on a salad of Chicory, Swiss Chard, Asparagus, Fennel, Radish, and Snap Peas with a vinaigrette made from Chardonnay.
Next, we had Homemade Sourdough with Callisto, Abalone, and Green Garlic.
The last two excellent foods we had were Johnny Cakes with Smoked Salmon Mousse and Steelhead Roe and Kale Ravioli with Fromage Blanc, Morels, and Pine Nuts.
Lastly, we enjoyed some scrumptious desserts including Pate de Fruit made with Marionberry and Sprouted Rye Oat Crostini (sourdough for me) with Beet Mostarda and Blue Jay Blue Cheese.
Overall the tasting was amazing and I cannot wait to do it again. This tasting is available to members and guests. Soter members actually receive two free tastings with their wine club membership in the first year. It’s definitely worth it.
