I recently had a Lash Lift & Tint and I’m so happy with the results. One day during one of my extremely painful wax sessions I was complaining to my esthetician, Jill, that my eyelashes curled too much at the corner of my eyes. I knew that she performed lash lifts and I definitely wanted to give it a try. Last year she tinted my eyelashes before we went on vacation which was great because my natural lashes are so light in color. The tint made them look like I had on mascara. It was perfect when we were on the beach or swimming in the pool.
Above is the picture before. My natural lashes were ok, but curled in quite a bit and were really light. The other picture is right after and you can see that my lashes are straighter (my preference) and significantly darker. So if you are interested in having this process done, here are the details.
The process of a lash lift and tint is done by a licensed esthetician and takes about an hour.
Step #1–Cleanse the lashes.
Step #2–Tape down the bottom lashes so that they aren’t exposed to the lift processing chemicals. (Sometimes the esthetician uses a silicone lash shield, but my eyes water constantly and the lash shield don’t work on me.)
Step #3–Next your lashes are glued to a rod individually .
Step #4–Your lashes get processed. That’s right, they use a perm solution that sits for 8-10 minutes depending on the strength of your lashes. (Mine were processed for 8 minutes.)
Step #5–Setting solution is applied for 10 minutes.
Step #6–The esthetician removes the solution cleanses your lashes again. Then the tint is applied to the top and bottom lashes. This made a huge difference to my lashes because mine are so light.
So my eyes were a little irritated after the process, but that subsided about 10 minutes after everything was over. (Actually, everything irritates my eyes, so don’t base an irritation level on my experience.)
Important things to remember…
A lash lift usually lasts 6-8 weeks and the tint last about 4-6 weeks. The most important thing to remember is that you can’t get your lashes wet or wear makeup for at least 24 hours after. There really are no other restrictions.
Am I glad that I had it done? Yes. I’m really happy with the results and I think that it definitely made my lashes look longer and darker.
Would I do it again? Yes. I will probably do it again, just not regularly. I definitely think that it’s a great thing to have done before a vacation to the beach when you don’t want to wear eye makeup.
Cons… My con list is actually really short. My eyes were a little irritated after the treatment. A few of my lashes on the very ends did not straighten and actually curled more than they were before (they were really short though).
A Lash Lift & Tint is a relatively inexpensive way to achieve longer, darker lashes. I would definitely recommend this beauty treatment and am very happy with the results.

I also wanted to share my latest favorite mascara. It’s Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effect Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara and its perfect for achieving more volume. It’s also great because it doesn’t clump or shed. I’ve also been using this Japonesque Lash Separator from Target. It’s amazing for separating your lashes. I love it.
