Fancy, right? Fancy is kind of right up my alley and this floral ice bucket is as fancy as it gets. Every single time I make one of these everyone wants to know all about it. I’ve had tons of requests to share the how-to so today is your lucky day. It’s as easy as can be and is perfect for showers, parties, or when you just want your bottle of wine to look extra special.
So I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I use a handy-dandy mold, a few flowers on their last leg, and water. That’s it. Freeze overnight and you’ve got a gorgeous ice mold that looks amazing. Usually, I place the mold in some type of crystal bowl or on a plate to protect the table. The bowl works great.
Here is the mold without the bowl. It looks great this way too, but it melts and makes quite a mess.
The trick with the flowers is to make sure to push them all the way to the bottom of the mold. (The bottom of the mold will be the top of your ice bucket.) I like to use flowers with and without the stems. I do like to leave a small amount of space between them, but that’s just my preference. Also, random flowers and lots of colors look best. The beauty of this mold is that you can make it with just about anything you like. Citrus is another great choice.
