Photography
What kind of camera do you use?
I shoot most of my pictures with my iPhone and my Nikon D-5200. I primarily use the AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G lens for food and the AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm 1:35-56 G ED lens for travel. I edit most of my photos with Lightroom.
Food and Drink
How do you come up with your recipes?
I love to eat out and visit wineries, breweries, and fun bars. I get most of my inspiration from things I’ve tasted. I also read lots and lots of cookbooks and internet surf. I’m constantly trying to challenge myself with something new and unique. However, I usually don’t make crazy hard recipes or dishes with almost impossible to get ingredients. I try to make food that readily available at local grocery stores or markets.
Where are your favorite wineries?
I’m an Oregon girl all the way. I’ve also visited wineries in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Temecula, Fredricksburg, TX, Canada, and Greece. I can’t wait to visit France and Italy to try their wines, but right now Oregon is my favorite.
How do you know which wines to pair with specific foods?
Ok, this is going to sound crazy, but I usually just go with taste. I’m in no way any kind of wine expert, but I know what I like and I usually try to read about different wines and what the winemakers have to say about their flavors. It is usually trial and error. I’ve recently really been into hosting wine pairings and they are so much fun. These are fun learning experiences too.
Beauty
What kind of moisturizer do you use?
I’m a moisturizing freak! I’m actually not 100% loyal to any brand. I love to try new products. Lately, I’ve been using Summer Friday and it is fantastic. Whenever I’m in need of one, I usually always go with La Mer though. It’s one of my all time favorites.
What is the most important skin care product, in your opinion?
Eye cream and hand cream!
Travel
Where is your favorite travel destination?
Right now I would have to say Athens, Greece. I’ve never been to a city like it before and it absolutely blew me away. I’m a history nerd and it was right up my alley. I loved that there were thousand-year-old artifacts right in the middle of neighborhoods and everyone just walked by them like it wasn’t that big of a deal. It was amazing.
What places are on your bucket list?
Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, Utah, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, South of France, and Germany. Really there are too many to list. I’ve definitely got a travel bug!
