A few weekends ago, a few of us got together to celebrate our special friend Heidi’s birthday. Since we love themed parties, we had a King Cake Tasting Birthday Party. It was such a fun party and definitely delicious. We served five different King Cakes from our area and had a blind tasting to determine the winner. We also enjoyed a few of this year’s Mardi Gras-inspired cocktails.
Of the five King Cakes, Sweet Pea Bakery won with a landslide and Julie Anne’s was a close second. I’ve always been a fan of Julie Anne’s but had never had Sweet Pea and it was crazy delicious. I also served our favorite Bite of King Cake Shots.
The cocktail bar was a make-your-own for this party. I think that is so much fun and that way everyone can make their cocktail how they want. Believe me, many of these girls have definitely attended at least one of my cocktail classes, so they are pros.
Decorating for a Mardi Gras party is really easy and festive. We used colorful Mardi Gras beads (all free from previous parades), masks, and I definitely showcased my favorite Voodoo Dolls as a centerpiece.
