I am such a fan of appetizers or hors d’oeuvres. Give me all the dip, nuts, and little bites of deliciousness every day. They really are the ultimate food category. If I had my choice that is probably all we would serve for our holidays, but my husband would probably veto that idea (he is a meat lover). I love to gather up my favorite recipes to try to figure out what all I want to serve during the holidays. So today, I’m sharing 10 Must Make Appetizers for the Holidays. Even though our holidays are going to ultimately look quite a bit different this year (thanks to Covid and a hysterectomy) I still want to serve a variety of fun and delicious bites to our smaller, socially distanced family.
These Deviled Eggs with Crispy Ham & Parmesan (above) definitely top the list. They are made with crispy Clifty Farms Ham cut into a small dice and salty parmesan made into a crisp. Not only are they so appetizing to serve, but utterly delicious. Deviled Eggs are always on our holiday table, no matter the holiday. Do y’all serve deviled eggs or is it just a southern thing?
Another one of those dishes that disappears every year are these Roasted Rosemary Cashews. I cannot keep them in the house. They are immediately gone with every batch faster than I can make another. They are a little bit spicy and have just the right amount of sweetness which makes them perfect with a delicious glass of wine.
Andouille Sausage Hushpuppies with Jalapeño Pepper Jelly Mustard Sauce are the perfect appetizer if you want that true southern kick. My family goes crazy for these. Sweet from the pepper jelly mustard sauce and with a kick from the andouille sausage and a little bit of jalapeño.
I love to make these Spicy Seasoned Ritz Crackers for everyone to munch during the holidays. They are quick, easy, and so delicious to create. This same recipe could be used with pretzels, cheese crackers, or even oyster crackers.
I love to prepare a fancy little taste like these Oysters in Brochette with Spicy Remoulade Sauce when we are having a fancier Christmas celebration. These oysters are so easy to make and the presentation is fabulous. I also love to serve this same remoulade sauce with my Spicy Boiled Shrimp.
Goat Cheese Beignets with Honey & Caramelized Pecans have quickly become one of my go-to appetizers during all holidays. Everyone seems to love these easy-to-make pillows of tangy dough and they taste great warm or at room-temperature.
Dips, Breads, & The Ultimate Grazing Board
You really can’t go wrong with a sweet and savory tart and this Pear Tart with Pancetta and Honeyed Goat Cheese is a great appetizer to serve when your group is a little more intimate. All of the ingredients can easily be substituted as well, making this tart an easy make-ahead appetizer.
It seems like everyone and their brother is making cheese and grazing boards these days and definitely selling them for a pretty penny. This Ultimate Grazing Board with Pesto Marinated Burrata, Whipped Herbed Goat Cheese, Spicy Pickled Carrots, & Lemon Smashed Olives has something for everyone and comes together so easily. Your family and friends will be so impressed. Using all of my favorite Mediterranean flavors also makes it light and a crowd-pleaser.
I’m a huge cheeseball fan, but probably even more of one when it’s shaped like the holiday. This Christmas Tree Cheeseball is my recipe for my three-cheese cheeseball with almonds and Craisins. That’s what makes this so great, is that you can use any recipe you like.
Lastly, pull out all the stops with my Truffle Tuna Dip. This dip has decadent truffle oil and capers served with delicious flaked Tonino Tuna. It’s light and so flavorful. This is also a great make-ahead dish which will definitely free up a little of your pre-get-together time.
